MORE MOVIE SHIT TO FINALIZE

I'm repeating myself. Typical.

Finally caught IN THE LOOP and INGLORIOUS BASTERDS. Loved them both.

Not going to really waste time summarizing them. Why I liked them, that's another story.

IN THE LOOP just made me laugh. And it displayed to me, in a way I trully believe, how il--considered, off hand comments by our so-called leaders can lead to shit like Iraq. When you have pricks like the DAvid Rasche character willing to manipulate and falsify anything in order to back up their ignorant assertions....throw it all in a pot and asses get fucked.

Peter Capaldi, of course, was commanding. No doubt the biggest bastard in a movie since Daniel Plainview. Funnier though. His exchange with James Gandolfini was tense, funny and I fully believed Malcolm could possibly kick Tony Soprano's ass.

One more thing: Gandolfin calculating required troop totals and possible casulties on a little girls bed, on a little girls electronic, gleefully chiming math toy.....that says it all.

INGLORIOUS BASTERDS was as good as expected. It's Tarantino all grown up. It worked as plain entertainment and as another great dialogue piece. Fuck, the vast majority was people sitting around talking about what they did or are going to do. And the guts to have a good 30-40% in subtitles is admirable, too. I haven't enjoyed Pitt this much in years. Even that douchebag Eli Roth was fun.

As others have commented the movie is as much about movies as it is about WW2. It takes how movies permeate every facet of our society(s), how we view the world through movies, and sometimes resolve problems through film and, literally at the climax, with celluloid. Then subverts movie tropes when it resolves who lives, who dies, who are the "heroes," and, hell, where they are during the climax.

Well done. Nice to see Tarantino, and Wes Anderson as well, hitting their creative sweet spots in the same year.

SPECIAL JURY PRIZE:

TRANSFORMERS 2....I will never watch this again, but I truly believe this is a massive "fuck you" from Bay to all of his haters. I think he intentionally ramped up the stupidity, retarded humor, leg-humping dogs, racial stereotype robots and everything else just to annoy movie critics and fanboys. And he did. Bravo.

May as well throw out the worst while I'm at it:

FRIDAY THE 13TH.....the laziest movie I've seen in years. Did they even try to do anything different??? I love slasher movies, but this was less a reboot than another shit sequel.

WOLVERINE....when Liev Schreiber splashes fake blood on Wolverines wife, and Wolverine doesn't pick up on it,what with his super mutant smell and all, that was that.

TERMINATOR SALVATION...a great world to play in, and they had no fucking idea what to do with it. And they waste Michael Ironside on a submarine. Fuck you.

ALIENS IN THE ATTIC....sub-par Joe Dante effort. *yawn*

THE UNBORN
RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN
HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT
